This page is intended to provide individuals with general information pertaining to first aid in fire/or prevention.

The steps taken in managing a victim of fire are crucial; one must act immediately in order to prevent potential long-term side effects. It is vital that every member of your household know basic first aid treatment and be aware of the proper procedure in handling someone who has been affected by smoke or fire.

The first thing to do is call 911 when you are faced with a fire emergency. Until the authorities show up, knowing CPR as well as basic burn treatment may help save lives, or at the very least help ease the pain of a fire victim.  It is also helpful to be able to identify whether an individual is suffering from smoke inhalation, in which case hospital treatment is usually necessary.

We strongly encourage you to review our section on first aid – it can help save lives!
